Borland Baldwin, third son to the great Count Baldwin, being absolutely mediocre at all things of note, was quickly shipped off to squire camp at the age of 12. Here he stayed for another 12 years accomplishing absolutely nothing of note. Borland, or Bouh as everyone called him, would like to think that his time at squire camp were good times but in reality good times were only to be had in the kitchen in between his beatings by Sir Lalaland (a cut rate knight of little importance) and the physically harming antics of his two-year senior squire-mate. I think the term for their actions is “abuse” and “bullying” but then again, I don’t suppose I really care.
Bouh you see, perhaps may have suffered from various conditions that only 21st century medicine has decided notable enough to name. But no, in this era, Bouh was simply a tool, and not a very good one for that. But Bouh was not to be victim to such social pressures as he knew in all confidence that he was an average person fortunate enough to be in the company of heroes.
On his 24th birthday, Bouh was surprised to find his shining emblem of a role model, the dejected alcoholic Sir Lalaland christened him with a shoddy blade of his own. But only two hours later, still barely having recovered from the surprise, Bouh was informed he was to join in the company contracted by the count on a perilous adventure.
